A wonderful city with a long history, situated on both shores of the Daugava, is a tourist attraction throughout each year. Beautiful Art Nouveau architecture, museums, alleyways of the old city. And you can forget language barriers – everyone understands Russian over there and will easily answer any questions you might have. Fitness Riga

The latest news that will excite any food enthusiasts, even healthy eaters – nobody cancelled cheat-days, refeeds and high-calorie days–: The opening of a pavilion with street food in Central Bazaar, which is a landmark of its own and on, you must visit.

Every Baltic city is unique in its own way and Riga, which over many years has held on to its “Master Chef Capital” status, is now rapidly transforming into a fitness capital! Inside of this capital, not only are we seeing more and more fitness-clubs, but also studios, the design and equipment of which will come as a pleasant surprise.

However, for me, a tourist who is interested in standard and affordable gyms (preferably, with a non-existent or a low entry fee) – fitness clubs within walking distance of the old part of town will do just fine.

Lifehack: make sure to visit the most modern Premium Budget gym, which has already set the plank for the whole fitness industry. Register online for a trial training session that will only cost you 3 euros at People fitness Centre and don’t forget to add some Yanga water to your order (you’ll get unlimited refills during your workout). The gym is fitted with the best equipment from Hammer Strength, Life Fitness, and Escape if that’s not enough then the integrated studios like Box and Cycle, and LessMills group classes will burn your calories right off. However, that’s not all… feel free to spend as much time as you want at People fitness Centre, because they’re open 24/7!

If you like combining shopping with excursions, make sure to check out Galleria Riga, its address is Dzirnavu Street 67 and on the 6th floor of the building, you’ll find one of the last modern representatives of the Estonian chain MyFitness. Here you will find Technogym brand new exercise machines, a functional zone, a cosy sauna and cleanliness plus a relaxing design. On the first floor of the building you can find a café by the name of LIDO Kirsons – you can be confident that the food there meets a variety of needs and is relatively affordable.

In the “old city of Riga” if you climb to the 5th floor of the Gelleria Centrs mall, you will stumble upon club Kolonna. I, personally wouldn’t spend 10 euros on a visit to this place, especially if we consider that the quality, variety of services and atmosphere, in places listed above, are much better; and the prices much lower.

From the other side of the river, one obtains a beautiful view of the old city and the number of tourists starts to decrease. There, you can organize jogs in the park or near the shore, but not without finding more gyms that are interesting.

For those, who value design, exclusiveness and quality, I recommend visiting ONLY, but make sure to call them first ( the gym only holds 100 people at one time). The ability to dedicate a couple of hours to your work while sitting at the bar, and sipping a coffee or protein shake is a big bonus! You could also hold a business meeting there and don’t forget that all the while you are accompanied by a breathtaking view. You will have to specify the price of such a visit over the phone.

The Swedbank building, in the shape of a sail, is the calling card of Riga. But, did you know that inside of it hides a small, let’s say “corporate” fitness club: Sunfit. At Sunfit the main focus is on individual training sessions and small groups. Anyone who can find the gym will get a free trial workout session! The view from the window might catch you off guard and motivate you to utilize the treadmills, rowing machines and professional Matrix bikes to their full potential.

I refuse to recommend MyFitness in Radisson Blu Daugava as a fitness club, but as a pool and sauna for only 5 euros- it’s quite formidable.

Anyone who is passing by or has simply taken an interest to the regions of Riga and is willing to stray a bit from the city centre – head into LemonGym and train for free. The most interesting one, in my opinion, is here. Good quality, tidiness, affordability.

Riga is the perfect place for a traveller on a budget, or one who values good food and Premium Budget fitness-clubs. Fitness Riga
